Elizabeth Murphy has had a widely varied career beginning as an Industrial Engineer for General Motors in the late 1970’s. City government service followed as Deputy City Administrator for the City of Flint. Work in a consulting engineering firm and several years in the Marketing Department of a community college preceded her final position as COO for the 200-employee regional chamber of commerce. 

Throughout her professional career Mrs. Murphy remained active in the Flint community. She has served for over 20 years on the Flint Institute of Arts Board of Trustees, twice as President. She is also a board member of a local hospital and serves on numerous other non-profits’ committees. 

She is a graduate of General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) in Flint, Michigan where she earned both an MS in Manufacturing Management and a Bachelor of Industrial and System Engineering.
